5 Indulgent Indoor Winter Activities
With the Winter season upon and the cold weather surrounding us we may not want to leave the comforts of home so here are 5 indulgent activities to help you spend the Winter Season indoors.
Winter Themed Pajama Party
Who doesn’t love a good party theme? A special way to spend the Winter indoors is with your closest peeps in cozy pajamas watching comfort films. Except this time we’re adding a bit of a twist. Nothing says Winter like snowflakes, snowmen, and sugar rims. Here are a few sweet treats you can incorporate into your pj party.
Cookies + Cupcakes topped w/ icing + snowflakes
Peppermint cocktails
Oven top/fire pit S'mores
Caramel Corn
And of course white wine + sparkling drinks
If you’re not a sugar lover you can always find alternative treats at your local Trader Joes. Now you can pop in your favorite movie, turn up your favorite songs, and get lost in dancing and desserts all night long!
2. Private Dessert Date
When the snow falls outside your window and you’re just not feeling like a night out on the town, or you have a sweet tooth and want to snack on your couch, here’s a memorable way to enjoy some good grub with good company. Call over that special someone, grab a nice bottle of wine, and put on a romantic playlist as you bake sweet decadent treats together.
Cookies, brownies, and blondies are a quick dessert course that you can elevate with some simple yet savory ingredients. You and your plus one can experiment with strawberry + raspberry to create rich tasting brownies. Or add a touch of citrus, lemon, or blood orange to your blondies for a zesty twist. If you’re less experimental then you can keep it classic and indulge in salted caramel, white chocolate, and simple sugar cookies.
Bake till your heart’s content and BOOM you’ve just created custom confectionary delights making for one very special date night.
3. A Bowl for the Soul
Nothing soothes the soul like a bowl of your favorite soup or a hearty chili. While tomato soup and grilled cheese is considered the signature soup of the Winter season, I’d like to share a list of my favorite soups and chilis you can cozy up with this month.
Chicken Gnocchi from Olive Garden: if you like creamy soups with chicken, light veggies, and dumplings then this is the perfect soup for you. It’s filling and full of balanced flavors.
Chicken tortilla soup from Chick Fil A: This is one of my favorite spicy soups to order. It’s like a fiesta in a bowl; and the tortilla chips on top give it such a great texture. The flavor is a 10/10!
Chili from Chili’s: How ironic is it that one of my favorite chilis to order is from my childhood favorite restaurant, Chili’s. Their chili is spicy but also a bit of sweetness to it. I love that they don’t skimp on the onion (you can request to remove them if that’s not your jam). The portions could be larger but the typical serving size still hits the spot.
If you’re looking for a widespread of soups and chilis then I suggest checking out the selection at Panera Bread. The bread bowl soups are my favorite.
4. Homestyle Hot Chocolate Bar
You can have your very own hot chocolate tasting right at home. This is perfect for bringing the family together on those cold rainy winter days when the kids need a bit of screen free fun. All you’ll need for this activity is a box of pre-made hot chocolate. You can also find your favorite brand of chocolate in stores and melt it down in a pot on the stove top with your favorite milk (I prefer almond or macadamia).
Once your hot chocolate is prepared you can now add in some tasty toppings. While peppermint crumbles and marshmallows seem to be a customary topping for hot cocoa I suggest adding in cherry sauce, caramel drizzle, or cookie stirrers (pirouline cookie straws) for a full flavored batch of hot cocoa. Now you and your loved ones can sip and chat the night away and have a very sweet ending to your day.
5. Books + a Bubble Bath
When is the last time you took a relaxing bubble bath? It seems like they’ve gone out of style but I’m here to tell you that they’re very much IN. Nothing like a bubble bath after a long work day to soothe the muscles and relax your mind.
Fill the tub with your favorite soap scents (vanilla, honey, and rose are my personal favorites) and toss in some petals from your favorite home bouquet. Elevate your bath with a bath tray and add on your favorite book, a small tea candle, a loofah, your favorite neck pillow, and cut on your favorite Spotify playlist for a touch of bliss.
Remember, you deserve the same care you give to others so wash away your troubles and go have a well deserved soak in some bubbles.
These are just a few intimate ways to spend a Winter day indoors. Let me know if you found this post helpful and if you’d like me to add more blogs like this for each season of the year. Give PONDR a follow on IG @pondrblog and don’t forget to tag me if you try out any of these activities.
